EV Charging

As technology advances, electric vehicles are becoming more popular and there is a huge growth uptake expected over the next couple of years, as the cost of purchase comes down, the charging infrastructure becomes more established and the mileage ranges of vehicles improve.

It is becoming more commonplace for both residential properties and business to become part of the EV revolution. There are three types of EV charging stations: rapidfast, and slow. These represent the power outputs and therefore charging speeds, available to charge an EV.

Rapid chargers:
Will typically charge the majority of EVs to 80% in around 30-60 minutes (depending on the EV’s battery capacity).

Fast chargers:
Will typically fully charge an EV in 3-4 hours.

Slow units:

Best used for overnight charging and usually can take between 6 and 12 hours for a pure-EV, or 2-4 hours for a PHEV. EVs charge on slow devices using a cable, which connects the vehicle to a 3-pin or Type 2 socket.
